Stewed Pears
With this freezing weather we are having, I am loving warm porridge for brekkie in the morning. My go-to toppings are generally banana, frozen berries, peanut butter, honey and cinnamon, which are all great but get very boring! So lately I've been switching it up and this recipe is one of my favourites for pimping my porridge.

Ingredients:
Approx. 6 pears
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup sugar (caster or demerara are both fine)
Optional: 1 tsp cinnamon
Method:
Core and dice the pears.
Add everything to a large saucepan, mix and place on a medium heat.
Stir every now and then to ensure nothing catches on the bottom of the pan.
Cook for 20-30 minutes, or until the pear is tender.
Serve with porridge, yogurt, custard, icecream or anything you fancy!
Tips:
This also works well with apples.
You can adjust the sugar to suit your taste- the pears I used were a little tart so they needed some sweetening.
If you prefer the fruit softer or mushy, cook for longer or peel the fruit before cooking.
Add any flavour you like. I love cinnamon, but you could try vanilla (1tsp essence or 1 pod split and added to the pot), cardamon, ginger- the options are endless!
