Breakfast Ideas: Crunchy Baked Pears

Anyone else sick of the same old breakfast everyday?!

I know some people love breakfast, but for me most breakfasts are eaten just because I know I need to eat something, rather than because I am excited for them.

Most of us probably have the same breakfast most days, and probably don't mind too much, but I think a change up is a good idea every now and then!

This ideas sounds odd, but I promise it is tasty and satisfying.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pears, sliced in half length-ways & seeds removed.

  • 2 large handfuls cereal, bran flakes or corn flakes work best.

  • 1 tbsp butter (it doesn't have to be precise!).

  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup.

  • To serve: yogurt and cinnamon

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

  2. Once the oven is hot, place the pears on a tray, skin side down, and place in the centre of the oven for 5 minutes.

  3. While the pears cook, melt the butter in a small pot.

  4. Once the butter has melted, add in the honey/sugar and mix well.

  5. Remove from the heat and stir in the cereal.

  6. Take the pears out of the oven and top with the cereal mix.

  7. Return to the oven for 5-7 minutes, until the cereal has crisped up and the pears are tender.

  8. Serve with a dollop of yogurt and a dash of ground cinnamon (best eaten warm!).

Grilled homemade nachos. Yes, grilled! It sounds wrong, but I promise it works and these come out lovely and crisp in a matter of minutes. I love making this as a snack for watching a movie or a match
